Golf Bunker Sand
Bunker sand is judged on how it plays and how it drains. Both come down to a clean, consistently graded sand — and it has to be the same sand every time it is topped up.

MRP bunker sand for golf courses
MRP supplies washed and kiln-dried bunker sand to golf courses across Queensland. A bunker has to drain after rain, hold a playable surface a ball sits on rather than plugs into, and stay in place on the faces. It also has to look right against the turf. Superintendents specify bunker sand closely — particle size, grain shape, colour, and often a measured ball penetration — because a bunker that is too soft, too firm or too slow to drain draws a complaint from every golfer who lands in it.
What we have to get right
Cleanliness: silt and clay crust the surface, hold water and stain. A washed sand is the starting point. Grading: a sand within the specified fraction, with the fines removed, drains and plays predictably. A dried, screened sand can be held to a tighter fraction than a moist one. And consistency: a course tops bunkers up for years, and every top-up should match what is already there.
The MRP products
Kiln-Dried Sand — washed, dried and screened to a close fraction between 0.3 mm and 6 mm — for bunker sand to a tight specification. Washed Sand screened to a consistent grade where the specification is broader. Both are quartz sand from the one deposit, processed on site. Send the superintendent's specification and we will advise which product and fraction meets it.
