Dry-Mix & Pre-Blended Products
A pre-blended product is only as consistent as its sand. Manufacturers need it dry, sized to the formulation, and the same in every load.
What these products need
Dry-mix mortars, renders, grouts, repair mortars, self-levelling compounds and bagged shotcrete are made to a formulation: cement, sand and additives blended in fixed proportions and packed. Two things about the sand decide whether the product performs. Moisture — any water in the sand starts hydrating the cement in the bag and changes the water demand on site. Grain size — the grading sets the workability, the strength and the finish, so it has to match the formulation every time.
Why kiln-drying
Drying does two things. It brings the sand to a known, low moisture content so it can be blended and stored. And it makes accurate screening possible: moist sand clumps and blinds a screen, dry sand separates cleanly at each mesh. A manufacturer can therefore specify a fraction or a target grading curve and receive it, rather than an approximation.
The MRP product
Kiln-Dried Sand from MRP Sand Quarry: washed to remove silt and clay, dried in our own kiln, and screened into fractions between 0.3 mm and 6 mm — a single close size, a band between two sieves, or a grading to the customer's curve. Produced on site at Talgai, Queensland, so the same sand comes off the same plant for every order.
