Sand is most of a mortar or render by volume, so it decides how the mix behaves. MRP supplies kiln-dried sand for mortar, render, tile beds and screeds, and to manufacturers of bagged mortar, render and adhesive. Washed, dried and screened to size on our own site at Talgai, Queensland.
What the trade needs from us
Clean: silt and clay weaken the bond to the brick or tile. Dry: the water in the mix should be what the tradesperson adds, not what came with the sand. Sized: the grading sets the finish and the workability. And the same every batch, so the mix does not change from wall to wall.
How we make it
Washed sand is dried in our kiln and then screened. Drying is what allows accurate sizing: dry sand separates cleanly at each mesh. We produce fractions between 0.3 mm and 6 mm. It arrives dry, clean and at the specified size.
