MRP sand and fill for renewable energy
Wind and solar farms run long underground cable networks from the generators to the grid. MRP supplies thermal bedding sand for those cable trenches. It is graded to pack densely and carry heat away from the cable. We also supply select fill for hardstands, access roads and equipment platforms. Both come from our own quarry at Talgai, Queensland.
What renewable projects need from us
A cable that runs hot has to be derated. The backfill around it is the path the heat takes into the ground. Air blocks heat, so the sand has to compact with few voids and give a low thermal resistivity. The site also needs fill that can be placed in layers and compacted to the engineer's specification, the same way every time, across a large site.
How we make it
Our thermal bedding sand is not washed. It is screened and graded to keep the fines that let it compact tightly around the cable. Select fill is screened to a uniform granular material that compacts predictably. Everything is processed on site from one deposit, so the material is the same from the first truck to the last.
Ordering and delivery
Wind and solar farms take material over months. We schedule bulk deliveries to the program, so sand and fill arrive as the trenching and earthworks crews need them. We deliver throughout Queensland; South East Queensland is our regular run. Tell us the specification, the tonnage and the site, and we will confirm availability and timing.
